My Remodeling Project
We used suffolk latches not long ago to reequip an old country house that we had recently bought at a knock down cost. We did this as we were really keen on preserving the early character and presence of the house. The home is more than 160 years old, so we were enthusiastic to research this century and use as many products as available around the house so it would look simply ideal. Taking a look around the cottage, revealed plenty ways in which I could revamp it to its earlier greatness. I wandered about the people who built the home, the materials they used and the life they led.
Part of the enterprise also included restoring the barn and storage houses so we used butterfly hinges to make the interior and exterior doors appear like they came straight from the Victorian Date. From a classic ironmongery shop in the town, I managed to find the faultless products that also had a beeswax finish. It turned out that we were not the only ones that took this restoration task for real as a lot of our new neighbors dropped by to thank us for keeping the heritage of the village and home. I will always remain enthusiastic about keeping the heritage and character of my wonderful new country cottage.
